On February 28 and March 1 it was held in Bangkok a new edition of Bazaar Diplomatic Red Cross.

During the opening ceremony, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Embassy of the Republic of Peru booth to get to know about Peruvian products.

In this occasion, the Embassy of Peru presented various kinds of crafts including handmade bags with Andean reasons, flutes, textiles, jewelry and accessories in leather and metal, which had great reception from the thousands of Thai visitors.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds to support various humanitarian projects for the benefit of children and vulnerable populations in Thailand.

Due to the natural disaster that is occurring in different parts of Peru, the Embassy of Peru would like to inform that a bank account is already available in Thailand in order to receive contributions to help our countrymen to relief the devastating effects of this catastrophe:

ANNOUCEMENT

New shifts for visiting to Machu Picchu

We inform that, to ensure the adequate flow of tourist visits to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, the Decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco ordered that, as of July 1, 2017, all articles of the Regulation on Sustainable Use and Visit Tourism for the Conservation of the Inca City of Machu Picchu.

In this regard, two shifts have been established for the visits:

1.       First shift is from 06.00 to 12.00

2.       Second shift is from 12.00 to 17.30.

In case that visitor wants to visit throughout the day, you should buy tickets for both shifts.

The use of a tour guide will be mandatory. The guides will be able to attend a maximum of groups of 16 people. The guides will deliver a ticket that will serve tourists who wish to re-enter Machu Picchu the next day to be shown at the entrance.

Please be informed that tickets which have been reserved and purchased until May 2 for the months between July and December will not have restrictions on the times.

This implementation responds to compliance with the Regulation on Sustainable Use and Tourist Visit for the Conservation of the Inca City of Machu Picchu, approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 070-2017 of the Ministry of Culture.

PERU PARTICIPATED IN THE XII SUMMIT OF THE PACIFIC ALLIANCE

On June 30, the XII Summit of the Pacific Alliance was held in Cali, Colombia. This meeting allowed the transfer of the Presidency Pro Tempore of Chile to Colombia and highlighted by the notice of initiation of trade negotiations with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Singapore, with a view to these countries acquire the category of the Associated States to Pacific Alliance.

Mistura, Latin America’s most important gastronomy fair, celebrates its 10th anniversary with full fanfare at its new venue: the historic district of Rimac, the source of ancient traditions and the birthplace of Peruvian creole music and cuisine. The 10th edition of the fair will be held this year between October 26 and November 5, a sunny time of year

A highlight of this 10th anniversary is the fact that Mistura has consolidated its place as Latin America’s most important food fair and that the three latest opinion polls by IPSOS Rank it as one of the two best brands to represent Peru.

To celebrate this first decade, Mistura returns to its essence at a fairground that is warm and welcoming and closer to the public. The design will be more inviting, with colored awnings and wooden stalls that will replace the large tents of previous years, and the street foods will be sold from their original carts.

ANCHORED IN OUR HISTORY AND CULTURE

Apega has chosen the historic center of Rimac as the backdrop for this 10th edition, a district that represents the country’s diversity and integration from its prehispanic origins, the later Spanish colonial period, and the large Afro-Peruvian population that settled in the classic neighborhood of Malambo. And, of course, the influx of migrants from different regions of Peru.

We would like to emphasize that Mistura is moving to this district under special circumstances, as the joint effort of the Rimac Municipality and the Heritage foundation seek to restore and enhance the value of its monuments and cultural heritage. Those who visit the fair will have the opportunity to admire the district’s main attractions, which form part of the historic center of Lima as the “Cultural Heritage to Humanity” recognized by Unesco. A stroll by the Ingunza Lookout point or through the Convent of the Barefoot Friars and the romantic Alameda; a walk along Jiron Trujillo or the Paseo de Aguas; or a visit to the stone bridge or the Acho bullring are just a few of the activities that visitors can enjoy in this district known as “under the bridge.”

Those who have had the pleasure of enjoying old Lima can relive the revelries and the endless nights of under-the-bridge music sessions, as at the classic Parral or the more recent Amistad y Criollismo and the Hatuchay with its stronger Andean influence. Inebriated by the nostalgic sound of Peruvian guitars and cajones, and flirting with the partner of the moment, few of us were aware that there, outside these venues and in between the narrow alleyways, not only was creole music being created but another phenomenon was being cooked up: the culture of creole cuisine under the inspired hands of cooks like Rosita Rios.

Rimac was also where the Amancaes festival was held, an annual event that attracted huge crowds from every sector of society to celebrate together. Food and drinks alternated with music, songs and dancing, and the most famous artistes would come from all over the country. It was a fiesta of every race and ethnic origin in Peru, we could say it was a harbinger of today’s Mistura.

THE GASTRONOMIC PROPOSAL

We are renewing the gastronomic proposal for this edition of the fair, with different restaurants and contemporary trends such as ceviche bars, market stalls, health food restaurants and innovative bars. Tradition will also be well represented with restaurants, food cars and delicious typical desserts.

To pay homage to the enterprising efforts of Peruvian cooks, this year we will be welcoming the women of Catacaos and their traditional cuisine, strong and supportive women who overcame the tragedy of the Niño floods in northern Peru. These businesses seek to recharge their economy after the losses and difficulties earlier this year, and being a part of Mistura is a good way to turn the page and carry on their traditions and flavors. Along the same lines, and in alliance with the Eat Fish program, we will have a pavilion of delicious and nutritious seafood dishes cooked by the talented wives of fishermen.

CACAO, CHOCOLATE AND COFFEE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PAVILION

Cacao, chocolate and coffee will given a special pavilion in which to pay them tribute. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the varieties of flavors and aromas and the ways they are prepared.

As always, pisco will be given a special place to display the best distilled spirits from different production areas of the country.

Another of the novelties this year will be an area dedicated to broths, lawas, chowders, bisques and other traditional soups from all over Peru. Visitors will be able to savor varieties from a delicious shrimp chowder to a chicken and peanut soup from the rain forest called Inchicapi.

THE GRAND MARKET AND AUTHENTIC SEAFOOD CUISINE

The heart and greatest pride of Mistura is the Grand Market, this year with a new design and the presence of small farmers who will bring their supplies of excellent and varied products typical of different parts of the country. The best Peruvian cooks will give demonstrations on how to use the market products to cook delicious and healthy meals.

Another novelty will be the participation of the wives of fishermen from Ancon and Marcona, who will be providing delicious seafood dishes, prepared with affordable types of seafood. They will also provide tips to visitors on how to recognize the quality and freshness of good fish.

RECOGNITIONS AND PRIZES

As part of the celebrations for our 10th anniversary, recognition is being given to the iconic restaurants that have accompanied us from the beginning. And in a special ceremony, we will be paying tribute to the leading players that have made this cultural emblem, the Mistura fair, possible.

The sixth edition of the Teresa Izquierdo contest will include the community kitchens of the coast, Andean highlands and the rain forest. For the third consecutive year, we wish to highlight the work of the mothers in the community kitchens, who feed close to a million Peruvians. The winners will have a space at Mistura from which to share their specialties with visitors.

Indonesia will be our guest country in this year’s Mistura, with a pavilion where visitors can get to know their traditional cuisine and customs. The representative of Indonesian cuisine at the fair will be the outstanding chef Vania Wibisono, a great promoter of healthy and balanced nutrition.

LOCATION

We would also like to highlight this 10th fair’s purpose to encourage new visitors from different parts of the city. There is an excellent connection between Rimac and the districts of North Lima (such as Comas, Los Olivos, Independencia) and Central Lima (San Juan de Lurigancho, Ate) to the fairgrounds, not to mention the easy access via the Metropolitano, the Blue Corridor bus service and the final station on the Metro 1 line.

Ambassador Fernando Quirós paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Nantana Sivakua, Director General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Estimados connacionales:

Es grato dirigirme a todos los compatriotas residentes en el exterior con ocasión de la celebración del 196° aniversario de nuestra independencia. En esta fecha tan importante, sentimos con mayor fuerza todo aquello que nos hace ser peruanos y nos permite reflexionar sobre nuestro pasado, presente y futuro.

No es fácil vivir lejos de la Patria, de nuestras familias y de nuestras raíces. La distancia hace necesario tener coraje y tesón para afrontar los desafíos que se presentan en la búsqueda de nuevas oportunidades. Así también supone un reto para la transmisión y aceptación de nuestra rica cultura por parte de las nuevas generaciones nacidas en el exterior.

A pesar de ello, el arraigo hacia lo nuestro se manifiesta fuerte e imperturbable. Evidencia de ello fue la respuesta de esa Comunidad Peruana para hacer frente a los terribles momentos que sufrió el país a causa del fenómeno natural de “El Niño Costero”. Las grandes muestras de solidaridad que movieron a miles de peruanos desde el extranjero, son una clara señal de una de las mayores fortalezas que tiene el Perú: su gente. Y es que cuando nos unimos hacemos patria y somos UNA SOLA FUERZA!

Consciente de ello, y a través de la búsqueda de un país moderno, justo y una revolución social, mi gobierno busca simplificar trámites y mejorar la atención a los ciudadanos peruanos que residen más allá de nuestras fronteras. En general, nuestro propósito es acercar al Estado a ustedes, representantes del Perú, que día a día contribuyen con el desarrollo de nuestro país y la difusión de nuestro acervo cultural en el extranjero.

Al conmemorarse un aniversario más de nuestra independencia, hago llegar a cada uno de ustedes y sus familias, mi más sincero agradecimiento por la ayuda recibida con ocasión del mencionado fenómeno natural y el reconocimiento por sus extraordinarios esfuerzos para llevar siempre muy en alto su peruanidad.

Este  miércoles 23 de agosto se inauguró la vigésima tercera edición del Concurso Nacional del Pisco, el mismo que se llevará a cabo hasta el 25 de agosto en la región Moquegua.

El evento, organizado por la Comisión Nacional del Pisco (CONAPISCO), premia la calidad y la excelencia de nuestro producto bandera y contribuye a que los productores de diferentes regiones del país puedan establecer contactos e incrementar sus ventas.

“El certamen es el máximo reconocimiento que se otorga a los productores de pisco y contribuye no solo a reconocer la calidad de las mejores muestras, sino también a promover el consumo interno”, señaló el presidente de la CONAPISCO, Juan Carlos Mathews, quien actualmente ejerce el cargo de viceministro de MYPE e Industria del Ministerio de la Producción (PRODUCE). Asimismo, destacó que los ganadores de medallas de oro nacional, con los puntajes más altos, son invitados a participar en ferias como: Expoalimentaria y Mistura, que anualmente se llevan a cabo en el Perú.

Para esta edición se espera que se presenten 125 empresas; un crecimiento de 25% respecto a la versión del año anterior.

La vigésima tercera edición del Concurso Nacional del Pisco, otorgará hasta cuatro categorías de premiación, de acuerdo al puntaje obtenido, – Gran Medalla Nacional, Medalla de Oro, Medalla de Plata y Medalla de Bronce- y prevé la participación de un mínimo de 300 muestras, que serán sometidas a análisis físico-químicos, para posteriormente pasar al proceso de cata, el cual se divide en etapa regional y nacional.

CONAPISCO tiene como sus funciones, apoyar el desarrollo de la actividad productora de Pisco, a través de propuestas normativas, acciones de promoción, difusión, asistencia técnica y medidas de toda índole, con la finalidad de respaldar la promoción nacional del Pisco como bebida bandera del Perú.

El pasado 8 de septiembre, la Embajada del Perú participó en la visita de alto nivel a las instalaciones del Food Innopolis Center, ubicado en el Parque Científico de Tailandia, programada para los miembros del Cuerpo Diplomático con la finalidad de conocer los planes y programas de innovación alimentaria centrada en la investigación y el desarrollo, que lleva a cabo el país. La ocasión permitió conocer de cerca los trabajos del referido centro en apoyo a los productores de alimentos a todas las escalas (local, regional y global), a través de una plataforma que permite fortalecer su negocio e innovar la industria alimentaria.

Asimismo, el programa incluyó una visita al Terminal Portuario de Namyong, ubicado en la provincia de Chonburi, especializado en prestar servicios a los fabricantes de automóviles, facilitando el transporte de vehículos y carga general, además de brindar servicios de almacenaje.

Ambassador Fernando Quirós officially delivered the Exequatur issued by King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, King Rama X, to M.L. Preeyapun Sridhavat, who accredits her as Honorary Consul General of Peru in Chiang Mai. Mrs. Sridhavat had been in charge of Honorary Consul for the mentioned province since 2002, having done important work in the interests of Peru, in the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Embassy of Peru extends its profound condolences to the Government and the people of Thailand on the anniversary of the passing away of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The Peruvian clarinetist Marco Antonio Mazzini, professor at the College of Music of the "Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú", is in Bangkok participating as tutor in the Thailand Clarinet Academy 2017, at the College of Music of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University.

Today Marco Antonio visited the College of Music of Mahidol University to exchange musical experiences and explore possibilities of collaboration with Peruvian institutions.

On Saturday 7th October 2017, the Peruvian artist will perform accompanied by the Thailand Clarinet Academy Choir in a concert at the Grand Hall of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University.

El clarinetista peruano Marco Antonio Mazzini, egresado del Conservatorio Nacional y actualmente profesor de la Escuela de Música de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), visitó Bangkok del 2 al 12 de octubre pasado, invitado por Sr. Chaiphat  Tripipitsiriwat a fin de conducir el taller “Thailand Clarinet Academy 2017”, en el que dictó clases de interpretación de clarinete a un grupo de 25 estudiantes tailandeses y chinos. La visita concluyó con un concierto de clarinete en el Gran Salón de la Universidad Bansomdejchopraya Rajabhat, en el que el señor Mazzini estuvo acompañado por los profesores y alumnos de la “Thailand Clarinet Academy”. El recital contó con la presencia de alrededor de 100 asistentes y el repertorio incluyó composiciones peruanas como el Cóndor Pasa, Carnaval Arequipeño, La Concheperla, Estampas de Arequipa, La pampa y la puna, así como una selección de piezas musicales internacionales.

El pasado 16 de octubre, el Embajador Fernando Quirós fue recibido por la Ministra de Comercio de Tailandia, señora Apiradi Tantraporn, ocasión en la que transmitió el saludo del señor Canciller y del señor Ministro de Comercio Exterior y Turismo del Perú así como el mayor deseo y la firme voluntad política de nuestro país de continuar trabajando conjuntamente con Tailandia para fortalecer las relaciones económicas y comerciales entre ambos países. La reunión permitió informar a la Ministra de Comercio sobre la decisión del Gobierno peruano de abrir una Oficina Comercial (OCEX) en Tailandia, destacando que ello constituía una clara muestra de la importancia que el Perú le atribuye a la relación económica y comercial bilateral así como a la relevancia que para nosotros tiene este mercado en materia de bienes, servicios, capitales y también como emisor de turistas. La Ministra de Comercio aprovechó la ocasión para invitar al Embajador Quirós a participar en la inauguración de la Feria ". STYLE 2017. Asia's Most Stylish Fair. Fashion. Gift & Houseware. Furniture", en la que anualmente se promueve los productos de los empresarios tailandeses en el mercado internacional, y se impulsa a Tailandia para que se convierta en un centro de soluciones de estilo de vida, en los países del ASEAN y del Asia.

El pasado 18 de octubre, el Embajador Fernando Quirós fue recibido en audiencia por el Primer Ministro de Tailandia, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, ocasión en la que se presentó formalmente como Embajador del Perú, además de transmitirle los saludos del señor Presidente de República, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, y abordar los temas más importantes de la relación bilateral. El Primer Ministro expresó su felicitación y manifestó que confía en que la Embajada jugará un rol positivo en la relación entre ambos países, así como para expandir la cooperación bilateral. Asimismo, saludó la larga relación diplomática de 52 años entre nuestros países, a la cual identificó como una excelente base para potenciar la cooperación, principalmente, en los sectores de agricultura, pesquería, turismo e infraestructura. Por su parte, el Embajador Quirós transmitió el mayor deseo y la firme voluntad política del Perú de continuar trabajando conjuntamente con Tailandia para fortalecer las relaciones políticas, económicas, culturales y de cooperación entre ambos países.

El pasado 26 de octubre se celebró en Lima la XII Conferencia Internacional organizada por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Americas Society & Council of the Americas (AS/COA), que en esta oportunidad se tituló “Construyendo Perú: Necesidades de Infraestructura en una Nueva Realidad Climática”. Esta XII Conferencia fue inaugurada por el señor Presidente de la República, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, y por la Presidenta y Directora Ejecutiva de AS/COA, Susan Segal. El Presidente Kuczynski resaltó que los grandes retos por resolver pasan por el ordenamiento territorial, la contaminación ambiental y el acceso al agua y desagüe, tareas que requieren la participación conjunta de los sectores público y privado, destacando igualmente la necesidad de contar con una Autoridad Metropolitana para el tránsito, concretar el Tren de Cercanías y las Líneas de Metro. How to get a Press Pass

Dear communicators and journalists,

The Peruvian Episcopalian Conference (CEP), through the Media Commission of the Pope’s visit, is inviting the national and international media to request accreditation for the coverage of Pope Francis’ official activities to the Peruvian cities of Puerto Maldonado (Region of Madre de Dios), Trujillo (Region of La Libertad) and Lima, on January 19th, 20th and 21st, respectively, as well as for the arrival of the Holy Father to Peru on January 18th.

Accreditation will be done exclusively online through the official website of the Pope’s visit www.papafranciscoenperu.org from November 6 to December 6.

ACCREDITATION PROCESS

The media shall designate a coordinator to start the accreditation process collectively. Such designation must be sent through email to the address acreditaciones@papafranciscoenperu.org, indicating the name, mobile phone and email address of the coordinator.

The designated coordinator will receive a password from CEP through which he/she will register applicants starting November 6th. Only one password per national and international media will be allowed.

Filling up the accreditation form does not guarantee approval of the request for a credential; approved documents will be sent back to coordinators.

Registration data sent by applicants require a formal back up letter from the media they represent.

The medium should have been working for at least two years.

The medium can ask for registration for the three sites (Puerto Maldonado, Trujillo and Lima), depending on their interest.

With great success, the Embassy of Peru has been participating in the 64th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2017, organized annually by the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), which this year is open from 17-19 November 2017, at the Central World Shopping Center.

The Peruvian stand, located on the third floor (3^rd floor) of the Eden zone, and which shows the best of our crafts and traditional products, was visited by Princess Soamsawali, to whom Ambassador Quirós and his wife gave a traditional 'mate burilado', made especially by the well-known Peruvian artisan Tito Medina.

In this event, the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar has brought together 40 countries, which have been exhibiting their traditional products in 160 stands, on the 3 floors of the Central World. The proceeds from this Bazaar will be allocated to different social works, hospitals, schools and other charitable projects.

On Wednesday, 6^th December 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Ambassador Don Pramudwinai, received in audience the Ambassador of Peru, Fernando Quirós, who recently presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (Rama X).

On 27^th December 2017, Ambassador Fernando Quirós visited the National Gallery Bangkok to meet with the director, Ms. Nitaya Kanokmongkol whom he discussed about the future joint activities between the National Gallery and the Embassy of Peru. He also visited the replica of the Estela de Raimondi, donated by the Peruvian Government to Thailand in 2015, commemorating 50 years of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries.

The National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), the Commission for the Promotion for Exports and Tourism of Peru (PROMPERU), with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, organize the most important annual event to promote Peruvian tourism: the XXV Edition of PERU TRAVEL MART - PTM 2018, that will be held at the Lima Convention Center, from April 27 to 30, 2018.

The PTM 2018 is a platform that promotes the promotion and subsequent commercialization of tourist destinations that exclusively involves business spaces between Peruvian tour operators and those from different markets at the global level.

The Thai Government approved a new measure for the conservation of the environment and protection of the natural resources, in 24 beaches and coastalareas of the country.

The measure that will be entered into force from 31^st January 2018, prohibits the following:

1. Smoking or disposing of cigarettes (except in designated areas);

2. Disposing of all forms of wastes, including toxic waste such as polystyrene substance and plastic (except in designated areas);

3. Any act that may cause damage to the protected coastal areas.

Inca sanctuary can be enjoyed all year round without inconvenience.

Local authorities have reinforced measures to preserve it.

3. For those who love hiking and adventure, you can get there by following the Inca Trail. For this, it is recommended to plan the trip months in advance. For maintenance, the Inca Trail usually closes in the month of February.

4. The opening hours are divided into two shifts: from 06:00 to 12:00 and from 12:00 to 17:30.

On February 7, 2018, the Peruvian Embassies in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand participated in a videoconference organized by the Peruvian Exporters Association (ADEX) and the Commercial Office of Peru in Jakarta, in order to promote Peruvian participation in the fairs "Food and Hotel Asia 2018" (Singapore, April 24 to 27, 2018) and "THAIFEX" (Bangkok, May 29 to June 2, 2018), as well as to conduct related visits to both Malaysia and Indonesia.

The event counted with the participation of the Heads of Mission and those in charge of economic section of the aforementioned Embassies, as well as an official of the Directorate General of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

UN Environment has announced that Peru will be designated as regional headquarters in Latin America and the Caribbean for the World Environment Day 2018, to take place on June 5.

The Minister of the Environment of Peru, Elsa Galarza, ensures that being a regional headquarter allows us to put in the agenda the environmental policies aimed at the reduction of the use of plastic, particularly in the sea, and the care of the natural heritage. It is also important because it reveals the efforts, good practices and campaigns that are being promoted in Peru towards this objective.

DISCURSO

Señor Presidente del Congreso, representantes, amigos de todas las naciones, pueblo del Perú. Queridos hermanos peruanos:

Me dirijo a Ustedes en este difícil momento que atraviesa el país para transmitirles mi más absoluto compromiso y lealtad para con nuestro amado Perú y con su Constitución. Quiero transmitirles la esperanza y la fe en que juntas podemos construir un futuro mejor.

La Herencia

Estamos llegando al bicentenario de nuestra patria en una situación de inestabilidad y zozobra institucional que ningún peruano podría desear.

Llegó el momento de decir Basta. Los graves acontecimientos que se han conocido en los últimos tiempos ameritan que se esclarezcan responsabilidades y que cualquier tipo de irregularidad cometida sea penada como corresponde. La justicia deberá actuar con independencia, responsabilidad y celeridad.

Pero al mismo tiempo, lo que ha sucedido debe marcar el punto final de una política de odio y confrontación, que no ha hecho otra cosa que perjudicar al país. La clase política, y sobre todo quienes detentamos cargos públicos, tenemos la obligación de dar respuestas a las muchas necesidades, demandas y aspiraciones de cada uno de los peruanos, y no enredarnos en peleas encarnizadas que terminan hacienda un enorme daño al Perú.

Este punto final, es el punto de partida de una nueva etapa, de refundación institucional del país, en la que la democracia y el respeto por el prójimo sean banderas, dejando de lado los intereses y apetitos personales y priorizando el bienestar de todos.

Objetivos

Debemos señalar objetivos claros para el Perú, y todos, sin distinción alguna, debemos aportar y apoyar ese deseo, uniéndonos, con la firme promesa de solucionar los problemas que se presenten y dejar de lado las diferencias políticas.

En unos días, cuando esté constituido el Nuevo Gabinete (que será completamente nuevo), el o la Presidente del Consejo de Ministros, dará el detalle de las políticas de Estado que emprenderemos. Yo hoy compartiré con Ustedes los lineamientos generales con los que se conducirá este gobierno.

Primero, pondremos nuestro mayor esfuerzo en La lucha contra la Corrupción. Seremos muy firmes en el combate contra todas aquellas acciones que estén reñidas con la ley, vengan de donde vengan y cueste lo que cueste. No va a temblarnos la mano para llevar adelante las medidas necesarias para sacar al Perú de la situación actual. La transparencia será un pilar fundamental de nuestro mandato y estamos comprometidos a desmontar y denunciar todo esquema corrupto que funcione en cualquier área del Estado.

Segundo, lograr la Estabilidad Institucional, como base para poder enfrentar de manera eficiente los grandes desafíos y necesidades que tiene nuestro país.

La división de poderes es la base de cualquier democracia, y es fundamental que ningún poder avasalle los derechos del otro. Los invoco a que sea el respeto, la tolerancia y el amor a la patria, los que marquen la dinámica de esta nueva etapa.

Reconstruir la Gobernabilidad, recuperar la confianza de los peruanos, ¡en un marco de respeto de la Constitución Nacional y de nuestras leyes es nuestro desafío!

Tengo la fuerza y la determinación para emprender el reto. También tengo claro que ESTE GRAN DESAFÍO DEBEMOS ASUMIRLO TODOS JUNTOS. ¡TODOS LOS PERUANOS! Los partidos y líderes políticos, los grupos de empresarios y gremios y, sobre todo, cada uno de los ciudadanos de esta, nuestra querida tierra, debemos trabajar unidos, respetando nuestras diferencias y siempre priorizando al país. CONCIUDADANOS, ESTÁ EN JUEGO EL FUTURO DEL PERÚ, Y QUIENES GOBERNAMOS EL PAÍS DEBEMOS ESTAR A LA ALTURA DE LAS CIRCUNSTANCIAS.

Tercero, nuestro horizonte es el de un país estable, con crecimiento ordenado y equitativo, y debemos avanzar rápido en este camino. Nuestro proyecto en lo económico es conducir al Perú por la senda de la credibilidad y estabilidad. Por eso vamos a mantener lo que se ha hecho bien, modificar todo aquello que puede mejorarse, y emprender aquello que no se ha realizado hasta ahora.

Sabemos que para crecer, nuestro país debe ser cada vez más competitivo, y generar empleo de calidad para todos los peruanos sin distingo de edades y género. Por eso fomentaremos la inversión privada, la iniciativa de los emprendedores y apoyaremos a nuestras pequeñas y medianas empresas.

La Construcción de Infraestructura sostenible también será un pilar de nuestra gestión. Hay mucho por hacer en nuestro país, con el fin de hacerlo más competitivo económicamente, y más justo en su distribución regional, en Costa, Sierra y Selva. Más aún cuando tenemos una reconstrucción pendiente, y es urgente emprenderla y cumplir con cada uno de los damnificados.

Cuarto, tenemos claro que el desarrollo del Perú no es otra cosa que la mejora de la calidad de vida de cada uno de los peruanos, para que tengamos un futuro mejor como nación, y que nuestros hijos puedan desarrollarse y tener oportunidades. La Salud, la generación de empleo y la seguridad ciudadana, serán centrales en nuestro trabajo. Y tal como lo hicimos en su momento en Moquegua, la Educación será pilar central de nuestra gestión.

Quiero hablarle también de manera especial a nuestros jóvenes. Quiero decirles que hemos enfrentado problemas aún más grandes que los que afrontamos hoy. No pierdan la fe en sus instituciones. PERMÍTANNOS DEMOSTRARLES QUE EL PERÚ ES MÁS GRANDE QUE SUS PROBLEMAS.

Cierre

Somos un país con futuro, pero ese futuro dependerá de nuestro comportamiento.

Los peruanos tenemos la responsabilidad de dar vuelta a la página, este debe ser el momento histórico en el que ponemos al Perú Primero, en el que superamos los enfrentamientos y comenzamos a construir el país justo y pujante que nos merecemos.

Estoy dispuesto a asumir la responsabilidad que marca nuestra Constitución Nacional. Tengo claro lo que hay que hacer, y cómo hacerlo. Tengo la firmeza, la apertura al diálogo y la determinación para conducir al país por el camino correcto.

Propongo ante ustedes, señores Congresistas y ante todos los peruanos de cualquier ideología política y credo, un pacto social que nos comprometa, a fin de luchar sin distingo alguno contra la corrupción e impulsar el desarrollo equitativo, democrático e integrador. Por mi parte, juro ante Dios que me dedicaré plenamente a trabajar en favor de todos los peruanos, en especial de los más necesitados. ¡El Perú Primero!

Nuestro héroe Miguel Grau, en una de sus frases más importantes, dijo "Yo no soy más que un pobre marino que trata de servir a su patria" Ese es el espíritu de humildad y entrega que el país requiere de nosotros, personas de bien, con fuerza y dedicación, poniendo nuestro trabajo a disposición del país, con honestidad, sin mezquindades y sin guardarnos nada. ¡El Perú Primero!

La educación no puede esperar, la salud no puede esperar, las regiones de nuestro país no pueden esperar, y sobre todo, cada uno de los 32 millones de peruanos no puede esperar. Porque no debemos olvidar que nuestra mayor meta es que nuestros hijos, y los hijos de nuestros hijos vivan en un país mejor. ¡El Perú está Primero!

Queridos peruanos, tengo la certeza de que podemos transformar este difícil momento en el nacimiento de una nueva etapa política, donde lo primero, sea el Perú. Quiero transmitirles la enorme fe, el compromiso y el entusiasmo con el que desarrollaremos esta gran tarea.

POR ESO LOS INVITO A QUE INICIEMOS ESTE CAMINO POR LA GRANDEZA DE NUESTRA PATRIA. LOS INVITO A TRABAJAR UNIDOS, PARA SALIR DE ESTA CRISIS Y CONSTRUIR JUNTOS EL FUTURO QUE SOÑAMOS.

On Wednesday 20^th, during the opening session, Dr. Rodríguez referred to the challenges that the world’s, Latin American region and our country facing regarding the serious phenomenon of corruption and he stressed the necessity to strengthen international cooperation in the face of this calamity. Meanwhile, on 21st and 22nd, he participated in the sessions and other work activities, which conducted several topics. Among them the recovery of assets derived from acts of corruption that is a central aspect for the fight against this crime.

March 27^th our Embassy in Thailand held the meeting of Women International Club, which was hosted by the wife of the Head of the Peruvian Diplomatic Mission in the Asian country. During the meeting it also presented about the tourist attractions of Peru, gastronomy and history.

The Ambassador of Peru in Thailand participated in the book presentation of the translation into Thai language titled "The Feast of the Goat" by the Peruvian writer and Nobel Prize for Literature, Mario Vargas Llosa, carried out by Bodthajorn Publisher which took place at the Thammasat University.

In his words, the Peruvian Ambassador thanked and congratulated the initiative of the publisher that made the first translation of a novel by a Peruvian author into Thai. He also noted that the diffusion of Peruvian literature in Thai language is the best way to know and approach our cultures and peoples.

On April 17, 2018, the President of the Republic of Peru, Mr. Martín Vizcarra, promulgated the Framework Law on Climate Change, being the first in South America after the entry into force of the Paris Agreement in 2016. The Law was approved by the Congress of the Republic of Peru on March 15.

3rd Gathering of the Open Parliament Network:

Open States for Democratic Governance against Corruption

Lima, Peru | April 11-12, 2018

We, parliamentarians representing 25 countries in the Americas and the Caribbean, gathered in Lima, Peru on April 11-12, 2018, for the 3rd Gathering of the ParlAmericas Open Parliament Network, held on the occasion of the VIII Summit of the Americas.

During this gathering, we discussed democratic governance against corruption and the important role that legislatures play in confronting this issue. The working sessions and dialogues allowed for the exchange of valuable experiences and knowledge related to initiatives currently being adopted by our parliaments that are inspired by the open parliament pillars and seek to fight corruption in all branches of public office. We also discussed the importance of encouraging initiatives that promote ethics and probity in the exercise of parliamentary functions; the development of mechanisms aimed at empowering women as central actors in governance strengthening and the fight against corruption; and the definition of guidelines for drafting open parliament action plans, which are being co-created with civil society.    

In view of the above and,

Recognizing: 

That corruption is one of the greatest challenges of our time, given that it negatively impacts the economic and social development of our countries; deepens social inequalities and limits access to services and public goods; erodes citizen confidence in the political system and delegitimizes democratic institutions; and, moreover, can hinder the achievement of the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;

That women, indigenous peoples and traditionally marginalized groups are affected by corruption in greater proportion and/or in different ways, and that their ability to denounce corrupt practices can be limited by power dynamics and other social factors; 

That international agreements like the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, and the Mechanism for Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) recognize the international scope of corruption and are intended to promote and facilitate cooperation between States in the fight this phenomenon; 

That the legislative branch plays a vital role in the fight against corruption through the exercise of its powers of representation, legislation, and political oversight of actions by the public administration; as well as in the adoption and development of regulatory frameworks related to treaties and international conventions that address this fight;

That, in open States, the executive, legislative, and judicial branches jointly undertake cross-cutting efforts to strengthen governance in support of anti-corruption measures, through more transparent institutions that are accountable and involve citizens, collaboration with civil society, and alignment with the principles promoted by the Open Government Partnership; 

That parliaments have the responsibility to lead by example in anti-corruption initiatives, promoting actions in support of legislative openness, facilitating interaction between citizens and the legislature, and guaranteeing access to public information, accountability, and high standards for ethics and probity in parliamentary work, as well as the participation of women from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, in order to ensure their points of view are considered within legislative initiatives seeking to counteract corruption and the social inequalities that it can exacerbate; 

That open parliament action plans co-created by parliaments and civil society are a useful mechanism for advancing initiatives that promote the principles of legislative openness and contribute to empowering citizens to hold their leaders and representatives accountable, and, through this, confront corruption; 

That advances in information and communications technology have transformed the way in which citizens interact with and relate to public institutions, and that the use of these technologies is indispensable for modernizing and improving the efficacy and transparency of parliamentary processes to exchange information with citizens and facilitate their participation in parliamentary work; 

That diplomacy and cooperation between parliaments and between legislators on matters related to the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of acts of corruption can consolidate the political support necessary to extend this cooperation to the level of national governments; and that the exchange of best legislative practices can contribute to the adoption of more effective national laws; 

We commit to:

1. Adopting legislation, regulatory frameworks, and practices that can be effectively applied and that promote transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and the highest ethical standards in the governance of our institutions.

2. Promoting multi-party collaboration to adopt legislative initiatives that contribute to the prevention of and fight against corruption, including, but not limited to, the protection of whistleblowers, witnesses, and individuals involved in investigating acts and cases of corruption; and the financing and expenses of political organizations and parties.

3. Promoting a gender and intercultural perspective in all legislative reforms or measures against corruption, taking into account that this disproportionately affects women, and that it is therefore necessary to consider the impacts and effects that all legislative initiatives that address this problem could have on this population group; and through this contributing to the achievement of the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

4. Facilitating cooperation between States in the fight against corruption through the implementation of existing international conventions and mechanisms, such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, and the Mechanism for Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC).

5. Strengthening inter-institutional relations in order to establish comprehensive legislative responses that curb corruption, promoting the principles and values of the Open Government Partnership, and taking action directed at advancing the open government agenda from the parliament.

6. Encouraging public integrity through strengthened parliamentary codes of conduct, the regulation of conflicts of interest, and the development of mechanisms aimed at preventing inequalities, discrimination based on gender or ethnicity, and harassment in parliament.

7. Encouraging the creation and implementation of national open government action plans, including open parliament action plans and other mechanisms developed in collaboration with civil society; and exercising our oversight role over the fulfillment of the commitments made in these plans.

8. Fostering transparency, responsibility, and openness to citizens in our parliaments, utilizing information and communications technologies to facilitate and strengthen interaction with the public, and the exercise of its oversight functions.

9. Pursuing the adoption of priority measures agreed upon by our States in the final declaration of the VIII Summit of the Americas, assisting in the fulfillment of these commitments by our respective governments.

10. Strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, encouraging inter-governmental cooperation and the exchange of legislative best practices related to the fight against corruption in our hemisphere.

La integración regional genera beneficios concretos para la población y nos abre el camino para expandir el comercio y las inversiones e insertarnos de esa forma a las cadenas de producción globales. 

Dentro de esa perspectiva, la Alianza del Pacífico es el proceso de integración más dinámico en América Latina. Hoy cumple siete años de existencia. El 28 de abril del 2011 se reunieron en Lima los presidentes de Chile, Colombia, México y el Perú para crearla sobre la base de las visiones comunes en cuanto a dos pilares fundamentales. El primero es el respeto a la democracia y el Estado de derecho. El segundo, la promoción de la economía de mercado y el libre comercio.

La Alianza del Pacífico fue una propuesta de nuestro país cuyo objetivo principal es impulsar el bienestar de la ciudadanía mediante la estrecha cooperación del sector privado con los gobiernos de los países miembros para crear un área de integración real, con libre circulación de bienes, servicios, capitales y personas. 

Esta alianza ha facilitado el incremento del intercambio comercial entre sus miembros, pero aún resta la tarea de aumentarlo en proporciones más significativas. En cambio, la integración bursátil, con la creación del Mercado Integrado Latinoamericano (MILA), es más bien un logro inédito en el resto de la región. Además de ello, la Alianza del Pacífico ha conseguido la exoneración de visas de negocios y turismo y ha implementado una plataforma de movilidad estudiantil y académica que ya ha otorgado más de 1.800 becas de pregrado, posgrado y docencia. La meta específica es que el proceso de integración ofrezca mayores oportunidades efectivas de progreso para sus ciudadanos

La proyección internacional de la Alianza del Pacífico se expresa por la relación con más de medio centenar de estados observadores y bloques regionales. Algunos de ellos son la Unión Europea, el Foro de Cooperación Económica Asia-Pacífico (APEC), Mercosur y la Asociación de Naciones del Sudeste Asiático (ASEAN).  

Hoy, la alianza se encuentra inmersa en negociaciones con Australia, Canadá, Nueva Zelanda y Singapur para alcanzar acuerdos de comercio e inversión de altos estándares, con miras a que sean estados asociados de la Alianza del Pacífico. La cooperación con los 52 estados observadores provee oportunidades para impulsar la facilitación comercial, la educación, el desarrollo de las pequeñas y medianas empresas, y la investigación en ciencia, tecnología e innovación.  

La Alianza del Pacífico, en suma, se ha convertido en una herramienta imprescindible para contribuir al desarrollo de nuestros países. El Perú asumirá en julio próximo su presidencia anual. El compromiso del Gobierno Peruano será concentrar los esfuerzos del proceso de integración en la mejora del nivel de vida de nuestros ciudadanos mediante la expansión de sus beneficios concretos.

In 2017, PROMPERU took the initiative to develop a pilot program focused on leading female entrepreneurs called "Ella Exporta" (She Exports), with the purpose to strengthen the capacities of companies led by women with export potential.

Nowadays, this first initiative has been very successful and has achieved the participation of more than 20 businesswomen from the sectors of agroindustry, manufacturing, clothing industry, services and handicrafts. Also, a new project in the field of the electronic products is being prepared. PROMPERU has planned for this year to replicate the indicated program, both in Lima and in various regions of Peru.

Por una especial invitación del Centro de Estudios Hispánicos y Latinoamericanos de la Universidad Thammasat, el día de ayer, miércoles 9 de mayo, esta Embajada realizó una presentación denominada "Boom of Peruvian SuperFoods in Thailand" ante más de 50 personas, tanto estudiantes como público en general interesados en conocer más sobre las bondades de nuestro "SuperFoods". La presentación estuvo a cargo del Tercer Secretario César Recuenco, Jefe de la Sección Economica y Comercial.

Luego de la exposición, se ofreció una degustación de causa, maíz gigante del Cusco, chicha morada y mate de coca, para el deleite de los asistentes quienes se mostraron entusiasmados de poder probar y disfrutar más platos de la gastronomía peruana.

On 9^th May 2018, Ambassador Fernando Quirós paid a visit to General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand, in order to greet and express him the best disposition of the Government of Peru to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Both agreed that, in the framework of the "Strategic Partnership" agreed between Peru and Thailand, they will become, respectively, "gateways" to South America and Southeast Asia and increase trade, investment, cooperation in science, the transfer of technologies as well as cultural exchange.

During the conversation, they also discussed the possibility that the Training Sailing Vessel of the Peruvian Navy, B.A.P. "Union", can visit the port of Bangkok next year, which was positively welcomed with satisfaction by General Prawit.

The Regional Government of San Martin is organizing the "First Festival of Amazonian Gastronomy 2018", take place from May 31 to June 3 in the city of Tarapoto, Peru.

The aforementioned festival aims to encourage private investment in bio-business, tourism and gastronomy opportunities, as well as to promote internal and external gastronomic tourism and to position the Amazonian cuisine as one of the reginal variants of Peruvian gastronomy. Gastón Acurio, the well-known peruvian chef, presented in Bangkok the most emblematic dishes of Peruvian cuisine for the public during 16 - 19 May. The activity was organized by Mandarin Oriental Hotel of Bangkok with the support of the Embassy of Peru.

The presence in Bangkok of the outstanding chef Gastón Acurio has coincided with the public annoucement of a new award for him: "The Dinners Club Lifetime Achievement Award 2018", important global award which annually recognizes the professional path of the most outstanding chefs in the world. This new recognition will be awarded by the World's 50 Best Restaurants group in a special ceremony on June in Bilbao, Spain, occasion in which will also be rewarded the 50 restaurants in the world 2018.

The AgroMinera Convention  that proceeds under the motto “AGRO Y MINERÍA UNIDAS POR NATURALEZA” (Agriculture and Mines, United by Nature) will be held between June 6 and 8, 2018, in the campus of the TECSUP Superior Institute in Trujillo , has as purpose to bring the main actors that generate the economy and employment and that plays a very significant role in placing Peru in the world ranking.

This convention aims to achieve the synergy (cooperation) between agriculture and mines in the same space, promoting the development of the country and incorporating technological innovation.

Moreover, the aforementioned event will be inaugurated by the President of the Republic and the Ministers of Agriculture and Irrigation, as well as Energy and Mines.
