El jueves 22 de noviembre, la embajada del Perú en Tailandia participó en una ceremonia especial para celebrar el “Loy Kratong”, una de las más importantes festividades tradicionales en este país en la que, con ocasión de la luna llena del último mes del calendario lunar tailandés, se agradece a la deidad del agua (Phra Mae Khongkha) depositando lamparillas flotantes (Krathongs) en un río. En esta ocasión, trece países fueron invitados a participar, entre ellos el Perú, único representante de América Latina.
La ceremonia, realizada a orillas del rio Chao Phraya en el recién inaugurado Centro Comercial “ICONSIAM” de Bangkok, fue presidida por el Gobernador de la Autoridad de Turismo de Tailandia y altos ejecutivos del Grupo Siam Piwat, propietario de ICONSIAM. Estuvieron presentes los embajadores de los trece países participantes, personalidades de la cultura, las artes y el deporte tailandés así como numeroso público.
Cada uno de los trece países ofreció un “krathong”, especialmente elaborado para esta ocasión, con un tema o motivo inspirado en su cultura. En el caso del Perú, el krathong reproduce a escala una embarcación de totora del Lago Titicaca colocada sobre un pedestal. El krathong está acompañado de un breve texto explicativo que alude al carácter milenario de estas embarcaciones y al carácter central del Lago Titicaca en la mitología inca. La exposición permanecerá abierta hasta fin de año y se estima que será visitada por más de un millón de personas.

On November 21, on the opening of the "I
Film Festival in Spanish", the Peruvian film "Climas" by
Peruvian director Enrica Pérez was screened. The event was held at the
headquarters of the Alliance Francaise Bangkok with around 200 attendees.
This festival is organized by the embassies of
Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Spain and will screen until November 28.
The inauguration was attended by the President of the Board of Directors and
the Director of the Alliance Francaise, as well as the ambassadors of the
organizing countries.
Before the screening of “Climas”, the Peruvian
ambassador presented a brief review of the director, after which a special
greeting video was shown by the director Enrica Pérez, in which she shared
information and comments of interest on the movie.
The attendees appreciated the gesture of the
director and praised the high quality of the film.

On Wednesday November
21, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand held an event at the headquarters of the
Alliance Francaise Bangkok to promote Pisco and Peruvian gastronomy. Approximately
200 people attended including members of the accredited diplomatic corps and
Thai citizens.
The gastronomic part
was in charge of the renowned Peruvian chef, Omar Frank, and the elaboration of
the Pisco Sour by two Thai bartenders. On this occasion, the participants
were offered Empanadas de Lomo Saltado,
Tartaletas de Ají de Gallina, Quinua Salad, Causa de pollo and Arroz
con Leche.
Brochures "Pisco
is Peru" were distributed with information on the origin and history of
Pisco as well as a recipe card in English with four Pisco cocktails.
This promotional
activity coincided with the inauguration of the "I Film Festival in
Spanish" in which a Peruvian film was screened.

On Wednesday November 21, the Embassies and
Trade Advisors of the four countries of the Pacific Alliance (PA) held in
Bangkok an Investment and Business Promotion Seminar with the participation of
around 100 businessmen and representatives of Thai Trade Unions.
At the opening ceremony of the "Seminar on
Trade and Investment Opportunities with the Pacific Alliance", the
Ambassador of Peru, on behalf of the four countries, the Vice President of the
Chamber of Commerce of Thailand and a representative of the consulting firm
Ernst & Young Thailand, addressed opening remarks. In the second part of
the event, the four commercial advisors presented various aspects of the PA
and, in the third part; three companies (Peruvian AJETHAI, Chilean Magotteaux
and Thai Oil Company PTTEP) shared reflections on their respective experiences
in doing business and investing in PA countries and in Thailand.
The Ambassador of Peru highlighted the multiple
business and investment opportunities that exist between the PA and the ASEAN
countries, as well as the latest advances and commitments agreed between the
two regional integration groups.
