Peruvian
youth Arena Castro Buscaglia, Muaythai World Youth Champion, visited the Embassy
of Peru in Thailand on August 31, before returning to Peru. On August 10, she
won the gold medal, category Junior 16-17 Female, +75 kg, at the “2018
IFMA Youth World Championships”.
This year,
IFMA Youth World Championships took place from August 2 to 10, 2018 at the
National Stadium in Bangkok, and was organized by the IFMA (International
Amateur Muaythai Federation), in collaboration with the Department of Physical
Education of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand. Six Peruvian athletes
participated and, besides the gold medal obtained by Arena Castro, Peru also won
the bronze medal, category Junior 14-15 Female, -45 kg, through young
athlete Tatiana Mora.

On August 17 and 18, 2018, the Latin
American Embassies accredited in Thailand (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia,
Cuba, Mexico, Panama and Peru) held the "Latin American Night" at the
Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University.
The event was attended by the
Colombian soprano Betty Garcés, who was accompanied by the Philharmonic
Orchestra of Thailand under the direction of the Italian Chief Conductor, Alfonso
Scarano.
"Latin American Night" is
a cultural-musical event that has been held for several years with the
prestigious Mahidol University. On this occasion, the Philharmonic Orchestra of
Thailand performed the most emblematic musical themes of Latin American
folklore, included "El Cóndor Pasa" by the Peruvian composer Daniel
Alomia Robles. Also, in the main hall of the auditorium, all the embassies organized
an information table for the promotion of their respective countries. At the reception,
Peru offered "Pisco Sour" for the enjoyment of the attendees.

The International Organization for Migration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the Image Center extend the cordial invitation to the Peruvian community abroad to participate in the 2nd Edition of the International Photography Contest “Soy Migrante Peruano” (I am a Peruvian Migrant) with the aim of bringing reflection on the phenomenon of Peruvian migrant community and promoting positive image of Peruvians who migrate.

On August 8, 2018, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand delivered
the award granted by KLM ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES, consisting of a
Bangkok-Lima-Bangkok air ticket, to Miss Thiamchan Sangkhaphanthanon, who was
the winner of the contest held by this Embassy in the framework of the photo
exhibition "Machu Picchu", from July 26 to 29, 2018, at Siam Paragon.
The award was presented at the Embassy by Mr. Athitkrit SAKSATAPORNDE, Account
Manager of KLM in Bangkok.
The contest gave the opportunity to all the visitors of the
photographic reference to become creditors of the air ticket, for which they
had to register through the social networks that attached a photo to the place
of the exhibition and a text indicated why they wanted to visit Peru.
In the first instance, twenty (20) of the total writers were
randomly selected and then the staff of this Embassy selected the best reason
as the winner of the air ticket, in this case, to Miss Sangkhaphanthanon, who
is a Spanish teacher at Triamudomsuksa High School. It should be noted that her
trip to our country not only provides the opportunity to learn about our
culture and attractions, but also allows the students to know from her, about
Peru.
The Embassy congratulated the winner and offered
her the widest support to have a successful trip. The Embassy also thanked KLM
for its generous sponsorship and raised the desirability of continuing to work
together to promote the tourist flow between Peru and Thailand.

El lunes 30 de julio de 2018, tuvo lugar, en el Centro de Convenciones del Colegio Médico del Perú, en la ciudad de Lima, la ceremonia de inauguración del Encuentro Científico Internacional 2018 de Invierno (ECI-2018), realizada en homenaje a los 50 años del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica del Perú (CONCYTEC). El evento concluyó el miercoles 1 de agosto.
Dicho evento busca promover y dar a conocer en el Perú el trabajo de peruanos científicos en el extranjero, constituyendo un certamen de gran importancia para la formación de una cultura científica nacional, y habiéndose convertido en la mayor reunión de científicos peruanos y amigos del Perú.
