Saludo
¡Viva
el Perú!
Muchas gracias.
On the occasion of the commemoration of Peruvian 197th
anniversary, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand held a concert of Peruvian folk
music performed by the group "APU INKA" at the Bangkok Art and
Culture Centre. The occasion was favorable to gather the Diplomatic Corps
accredited in Thailand, as well as high officials and Thai authorities and
members of the Peruvian community resident in Thailand, who enjoyed a cultural
evening where the best of our cultural and artistic manifestations was
highlighted.
In the opening session, the Ambassador of Peru addressed the
welcoming to our guests, after that the APU INKA group began their presentation
with many themes of Peruvian folklore. As a surprise for the audience, the
group was attended by three Thai musicians invited from the College of Music of
Mahidol University, who performed the Thai songs Kang Kao Gin Gluay (Bat
Eats Banana), Near Dawn and the Peruvian song Balseros del
Titicaca.
This important event allowed us to promote the best
of our Peruvian culture, not only through music, but also with a space for the
photo exhibition of the collection "PIRUW" by Peruvian photographers
Musuk Nolte and Leslie Searles. In that occasion the reception was supported by
the Peruvian restaurant Above Eleven, whose Peruvian chef Omar Frank delighted
the attendees with the most exquisite appetizers of our gastronomy and Pisco
Sour.
Within the framework of the celebrations of our 197th
National Anniversary, today the photographic exhibition "Machu
Picchu" was inaugurated at Siam Paragon, one of the most important of the
city of Bangkok, which will remain open until the July 29. The inauguration was
attended by representatives of the Thai Tourism Authority and senior officials
of the Boon Rawd Brewery Company, the company of soft drinks and beer with
greater commercial presence in Thailand, and the business group Siam Piwat,
owner of the most important shopping centers of Thailand, both co-sponsors of
our photo exhibition.
The space destined for this exhibition covers an area of
450 square meters and has more than 350 photographs of the Machu Picchu
Sanctuary, composed of some of the collection published on the occasion of the
centenary of its international unveiling, in 2011, and other more modern ones
provided by PROMPERÚ.
Also, the occasion was propitious so that the musical group
"APU INKA" could execute some Peruvian songs for a greater diffusion
and promotion of our culture in the frame of this event. Likewise, the company
Boon Rawd Brewery has also exhibited audiovisual material (photographs and videos)
from Lima and Cusco, obtained during its "Machu Picchu Ultimate Peru"
campaign, which allowed a Thai delegation of 33 people to travel to our country
from 1 to July 13, including a visit to the Palace of Torre Tagle and other
tourist attractions of Lima and Cusco. The trip culminated with a visit to the
citadel of Machu Picchu, the main objective of the aforementioned campaign.
In view of the connotation and importance that this
event has acquired, the aviation company KLM has donated to the Embassy an air
ticket Bangkok / Lima / Bangkok, which will be drawn among those attending the
photo exhibition.
The Peruvian musical group "APU INKA" is already
in Bangkok on the occasion of the celebrations for our National Day. This
morning, the group participated in a workshop with Thai musicians at the
College of Music of Mahidol University, one of the most prestigious in this
region. For more than two hours, the four members of "APU INKA"
interacted and exchanged knowledge about the execution of the most traditional
musical instruments of our country such as quena, zampoña, charango and
Peruvian cajón.
They also had the opportunity to do a practical class with
the music students of the Mahidol University, where they taught how to perform
the zampoña, after that they gave, on behalf of Peru, three varieties of this
instrument for the collection of said college. This important workshop fulfills
our objective of promoting direct contacts between our citizens ("people
to people") through a very rich musical cultural exchange. Also, the
aforementioned Peruvian musical group had the opportunity to promote the
different rhythms that are part of the cultural knowledge of our country in a
concert that brought together more than 150 attendees, including students from
the aforementioned school and the general public.
On July 9, 2018, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, in Lima, took place the V Meeting of the Joint Commission of Bilateral Cooperation Peru-Thailand, co-chaired by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Hugo de Zela, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul. Both delegations held fruitful exchanges on the broad agenda of the bilateral relationship, as well as on regional and multilateral matters of interest for both countries. Among the topics discussed, highlighting bilateral trade, cooperation in education, culture, tourism, sports and, mainly, in the field of alternative development to which our countries attach great importance.
The delegations of the two countries committed themselves to continue strengthening the joint work within the framework of existing bilateral mechanisms, especially in the field of technical cooperation (tourism, mining, aquaculture, small and medium enterprises, etc.).
In the framework of this V meeting, Vice Minister Futrakul made a courtesy
call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Néstor Popolizio,
in which both officials expressed satisfaction for the high level that the
bilateral relationship has reached for more than 52 years of diplomatic
relations and highlighted the joint work that Peru and Thailand should carry out
during the next year, respectively, in their respectives presidencies of the
Pacific Alliance (AP) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
