El día de ayer, jueves 31 de mayo, el embajador del Perú en Tailandia ofreció un cóctel en su residencia en honor de los empresarios peruanos participantes en la feria THAIFEX “World of Food Asia 2018”. Asistieron representantes de empresas importadoras así como de gremios e instituciones tailandesas con vínculos con el Perú. Los asistentes pudieron degustar algunos de los platos emblemáticos de la gastronomía peruana elaborados por la chef Natalia Gonzales así como del famoso pisco sour.

La participación peruana en THIAFEX 2018 ha sido posible gracias a una efectiva coordinación entre los Ministerios de Relaciones Exteriores y Comercio Exterior y Turismo y la Asociación de Exportadores del Perú (ADEX).

En esta ocasión, el stand peruano y la oferta exportable presentada han estado basados en los “Super Foods Peru”, campaña que busca ofrecer al mundo los productos naturales, sanos y nutritivos que produce el Perú como resultado de la exitosa fusión entre su rico territorio, su sabiduría milenaria y su excepcional biodiversidad.

THAIFEX 2018 se viene realizando en el Impact Convention and Exhibition Center de Bangkok entre los días 29 de mayo y 2 de junio de 2018.

Peru inaugurated a dedicated Pavilion "Super Foods" this afternoon in the framework of the Foods and Beverages Fair “THAIFEX 2018”, the most important fair in Southeast Asia, which takes place from May 29 to June 2, 2018 at Impact Exhibition and Convention Center of Bangkok, Thailand.

THAIFEX 2018 Fair was also inaugurated earlier today by the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Somkid Jatusripitak, and by the Minister of Commerce, Sontirat Sontijirawong.

This year, THAIFEX has 2,000 exhibiting companies, 2,100 registered buyers (from all over Asia) and it is estimated that would receive about 60,000 visitors.

After the official opening of THAIFEX 2018, Thai Deputy Prime Minister visited the pavilions of three countries, including Peru. The organizers emphasized that this deference was due to the fact that our Super Foods campaign fully coincides with the central message of THAIFEX 2018, to promote natural, healthy and nutritious foods.

The Pavilion of Peru has 7 Peruvian companies (Tierra Orgánica, Saproind, Peruvian Nature, Natural Health Foods, Interamsa, Agritrade and AJE-THAI) that offer Andean grains (Quinoa, Maca, Chia, Canihua, etc), fruits (Lucuma, blueberries, nuts), organic cocoa, natural supplements (Sacha Inchi, Maca, Cat's Claw, etc.), non-alcoholic beverages, etc.

During the inauguration of “Peru” Pavilion, the participants could taste some samples of our renowned gastronomy such as quinoa salad, Potato with Huancaína Sauce, Peruvian Beef Steak with Avocado Sauce, Caramel Cookies and Chicha Morada, prepared by the Peruvian Chef Natalia Gonzales.

Peruvian ambassador Allan Wagner, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and President of The Peruvian Network of Asia-Pacific Studies (REDAP) was elected by acclamation as President of APEC Vision Group (AVG), during its first meeting, hold in parallel to the second encounter of Senior Officials of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation  Forum, at  Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, on May 22, 2018.

The establishment of APEC Vision Group materialize the initiative presented by Peru during its 2016 APEC presidency, to initiate a process of consideration about "APEC to 2020 and Further", date set by the Bogor Goals, to achieve a region fully open to trade and investment.

In 2017, the APEC Leaders in Vietnam gave a structure to the aforementioned process with the adoption of a mandate to create the group now called "APEC Vision Group" or AVG - with representatives from each of the 21 economies. The appointments have formed a group of personalities with extensive political-diplomatic, academic and business experience, as well as in multilateral economic-commercial organizations.

The AVG group will meet twice a year, during 2018 and 2019, and in parallel to the Meeting of Senior Officials (SOM) to finally present its "Final Report of Recommendations", for consideration of the Leaders in the APEC Summit at Santiago, Chile.
