2019, a Peruvian food and Pisco Festival was held at the "The Athenee" hotel in Bangkok, featuring a special
were prepared by the Peruvian chef, Jaime Arbulú.
The event was organized by the Peruvian Embassy in Thailand, in
collaboration with the Commercial Office of Peru in Jakarta, with the aim of
promoting Peruvian gastronomy, Peruvian agro-export products, and Pisco.
Chef Jaime Arbulú, who has won multiple awards inside and outside of
Peru, presented a sample of Peruvian flavors, under his “Biodiversity” menu highlighting various varieties
of classic fish ceviche, stuffed avocado, tender lamb stewed
in coriander , Peruvian fish chowder, duck and coriander rice, potatoes with
creamy and spicy “Huancaína” sauce, stuffed potatoes with rice
and salad, chaufa fried rice, Peruvian beef stir fry with french fries, seafood in picante sauce, Limeña’s sweet sight dessert, etc.
During the activity,
around 500 people could taste Peruvian food and different cocktails made of Pisco. Representatives
of the Hotel The Athenee pointed out that the festival was a great success and
expressed their interest in holding new events of this nature in the future.
The Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Embassies of Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico accredited in Bangkok, held today a seminar on “Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Pacific Alliance”.
The event was inaugurated by the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Trade Promotion of the aforementioned Ministry and by the Ambassador of Peru, in his capacity as representative of the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance. Around 200 people participated, including public officials, representatives of trade unions and Thai businessmen.
In his remark welcome, the Ambassador of Peru highlighted the progress made by this integration mechanism in its first eight years of existence and under the Peruvian Pro Tempore Presidency in the last year. He also highlighted the special relevance of the integration process in the midst of global protectionist tendencies and raised the importance of working together with ASEAN within the framework of the PA-ASEAN Work Plan 2017-2019.
For its part, the Ambassador of Thailand in Peru presented the characteristics of the Peruvian market, highlighting the sectors in which Thai companies could be competitively inserted. Afterward, officials from the embassies of Peru and Mexico and the commercial offices of Chile and Colombia, presented in detail the indicators of the PA and the commercial and investment opportunities that this integrated market offers to Thai companies, particularly those that look for mutually beneficial insertion in value chains.
On the occasion of this seminar, the Embassy of Peru also made an exhibition of promotional material, books, and directories for consultation on exportable offer and investment projects, and leaflets were distributed to promote tourism, “Superfoods” and Pisco.
The Embassy
of Peru in Thailand started a series of events to promote pisco and Peruvian
gastronomy in Bangkok, with the support of Peruvian chef Jaime Arbulú,
contracted by MINCETUR (OCEX Jakarta).
The week of pisco and gastronomy was inaugurated on Friday, May 31 at the "51 Tasty Moments Bar" with a workshop dedicated to Thai bartenders in which Pisco, the Peruvian brandy was presented as well as its variants with different types of Pisco making grapes and different cocktails were prepared, such as pisco sour, chilcano, algarrobina cocktail, among others, using also ingredients of good local acceptance, such as chili and lemongrass. These workshops continued on June 1 and 2, in the Latin bars "Osito" and "Havana Social", under the auspices of the liquor importer “Comte de Sibour.”
Between
June 5 and 8, Chef Arbulú will present "Biodiversity", a
special menu with emblematic dishes of Peruvian cuisine at the renowned “The Athenee Hotel Bangkok”, where you can also taste pisco-based cocktails, imported by Brand
Connect.
These activities are intended to complement the commercial promotion carried out in recent days in Bangkok, at the food and beverage fair THAIFEX 2019, in which Peruvian exporters and high representatives of trade associations such as the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) and the Association of Exporters of Peru (ADEX) participated.

On Thursday, May 30, the Ambassador of Peru in Thailand offered a reception in his official residence in honor of Peruvian companies that participated in the food and beverage fair, “THAIFEX World of Food Asia 2019”, which has been carried out in Bangkok from May 28 to June 2, 2019, the Peruvian participation was effectively coordination by Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Tourism and the Association of Exporters of Peru (ADEX).
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Thailand in Peru, the Heads of Mission and business advisers from the Pacific Alliance countries, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL), the former president of ADEX, as well as representatives of Thai import companies of fresh products, trade associations and order Thai institutions.
In this
occasion, the attendees could taste emblematic dishes of the Peruvian
gastronomy such as ceviche, quinoa salad, crab causa, ají de gallina, also
pisco sour and chilcano of pisco, prepared by the Peruvian chef Jaime Arbulú. Musician Raul Montoya “Pacha Chalwanka” presented a repertoire of live
Peruvian music at this reception.
