Eight years of coordinated and diligent work by
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the sanitary board of Peru, SENASA,
with the Thai authorities, culminated in the publication in the Royal Thai Government Gazette of the "Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Importation of Avocado "Hass" from Peru into Thailand. The document
was published by the Department of Agriculture of Thailand (DOA) on May 10 and
came into force the next day.
Thailand, with a population of almost 70
million inhabitants, more than 40 million tourists per year and a highly
developed gastronomic industry, is an important market for Peruvian fruits,
vegetables and hydro-biological products.
Thai people will soon be able to enjoy this nutritious and healthy
"superfood" with the exceptional quality that characterizes the
Peruvian “Hass” Avocado.
In order to start exporting avocados to
Thailand, the Peruvian Embassy in Bangkok, the Association of Exporters of Peru
and the Commercial Office of Peru in Jakarta, have been coordinating the
participation of Hass avocado producers in the delegation of Peruvian
businessmen who will participate in the 2019 edition of THAIFEX, the most
important trade fair for food and drinks in Southeast Asia, to be held in
Bangkok, between May 28 and June 1 of this year.
Bangkok, May 14, 2019
On Sunday, May 12, 2019,
the concert “Memoirs of Peru” took place in the Sala Sudasiri Sobha in Bangkok,
by Thai musicians Usa Napawan (piano) and Chaiphat Tripipitsiriwat (clarinet), who
performed pieces by various Latin American and International masters, two of
them accompanied by young Thai oboe and clarinet interpreters.
The Thai
artists dedicated the concert to the musical experience acquired at the 4th

MUNDO” which took
place in Lima, in February 2019, organized by the School of Music of the
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP).
The highlight of this concert is “Carnaval

Mangani, whom they met in Lima. At the end of
the concert, the Ambassador of Peru, as the guest of honor, presented
acknowledgments to Thai musicians. Afterward, the
organizers offered a cocktail with Peruvian cuisine.
This
concert materializes the “people to
people” contacts
between musicians and cultures of Peru and Thailand, in which the Peruvian
clarinetist Marco Antonio Mazzini, professor of music of PUCP, will visit
Thailand next October for the third consecutive year, to engage as Music
Professor at the “Thailand
International Clarinet Academy” and the “Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute
of Music.”
